All about Goo Goo Dolls
Goo goo Dolls was formed in 1985,in buffalo, New york. It is an an indie and alternative rock band which was formed by guitarist and vocalist Johnny Rzeznik. They are perhaps most famous for the hit "Iris," featured on the soundtrack to the 1998 film City of Angels.
Early in their career, they got lot of critics as mere imitators of the Replacements. but the band refined and mainstreamed their sound enough to become of the most popular adult alternative rock bands of the latter half of the '90s,Till date Goo Goo Dolls have sold millions of records to audiences largely unfamiliar with their inspirations. Its their music that simply improved in craft and accessibility as the years progressed, and radio happened to be receptive to what a decade earlier would have been considered collegiate power pop and Thus, Goo Goo Dolls landed two huge hits with the acoustic ballads "Name" and "Iris."
Currently, the band consists of three members :
- Johnny Rzeznik - Vocals, guitar (Founding member)
- Robby Takac - Vocals, bass (Founding member)
- Mike Malinin - Drums (Hired in 1995, made official member in 1998)
